Music teacher A.R. Rahman became a bit nostalgic recalling his days of age, at the launch of his biography "AR Rahman: The Spirit of Music" in Mumbai on Wednesday night.
The book was written by Nasreen Munni Kabir reputed.
The launch was attended also Rahman's family, including his wife, sister and mother and filmmakers like Mani Ratnam, Ram Gopal Varma, Subhash Ghai, Ashutosh Gowarikar and Imtiaz Ali.
"I want to thank Munni for having the patience to sit with me and do this and have an intention to do this," said Rahman.
"While working on this book with Munni, I relived many old memories. But when I returned to live and you can never forget was when I had no money to buy any equipment. I needed four lakh rupees and I had no money . So my mother immediately sold jewelry from my sister and gave me the money, "he said.
The book is a fascinating window into the world of "Mozart from Madras", which became the first Indian composer to win two Academy Awards for the 2008 blockbuster "Slumdog Millionaire."
Talking about her experience of writing the book, Kabir said: "The idea of writing this film was made to try and find a way to create a biography of conversations which are recorded the thoughts of a person, sweeping up his life now and some understanding of his art and his personality. "
Rahman thanked for giving the opportunity to write the book.
The book took about eight years to complete, and Kabir said she saw no significant change in the Rahman in all these years, despite their popularity increased manifold during the course of this period.
"The interaction with Rahman took place in many countries, spread over many years. It has changed a bit. The person that the base is the same, but life is different. There is more pressure, a great success, but it takes its success to the light, which means that it is still very humble about it and people who respect and considered then are the same people, who respects and believes that even now, "said the author.
